ALBANY – Governor Cuomo may support protests and the right to express oneself in a protest situation, but with people standing shoulder to shoulder, even while wearing face coverings, he is concerned that will bring a spike in the coronavirus.
In his effort to keep a lid on COVID-19, the governor announced on Thursday that anyone who has attended a protest rally should go to one of the hundreds of labs in the state and get a virus test.
There have been dozens of rallies and protest marches n all corners of the Hudson Valley, some large, some small, but all orderly.
“If you were at a protest, go get a test please. The protesters have a civic duty here also. Be responsible. Get a test. Go to the website, find out the testing site nearest you – we have 700 in the state – you can get a test. Get a test,” he said.
Cuomo also said that next Tuesday, June 9, the Mid-Hudson Valley will definitely move to phase two of the economic recovery.
