MIDDLETOWN – An estimated 500 people marched through the streets of the City of Middletown late Monday morning, protesting the killing of George Floyd at the hands of a former Minneapolis police officer one week ago.
Local police aided the participants with traffic control as they walked for hours through the streets.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano understands how the marchers feel.
“You can see there is still hurt and there is anger, but they conducted themselves very professionally and were very happy with the outcome, the turnout,” he said.
Rallies against police brutality continue around the nation as it mourns George Floyd’s killing.
