POUGHKEEPSIE – City Police in Poughkeepsie were dispatched to Harrison Street early Sunday morning for reports of shots fired.  The reports were called in around 1 a.m.

One of the patrols radioed back that he had just heard what sounded like five gunshots coming from the east end of Harrison Street.

Several city police responded to the vicinity of 22 Harrison Street to search for evidence, including shell casings.  After a search of the scene, the area was turned over to crime scene technicians for further evaluations.

Law enforcement agencies throughout the country have been advised to be “extra-vigilant” because of the protests and riots occurring in cities across the nation.
