BROOKLYN – Governor Cuomo ratcheted up his effort to have people wear face coverings when out in public by signing an executive order allowing business owners to refuse entry to their facilities if they are not wearing those coverings.

He noted the masks protect the individual wearing them as well as others nearby.

“That store owner has the right to protect themselves. That store owner has the right to protect the other patrons in that store. You don’t want to wear a mask, fine. But then you don’t have a right to then go into that store if that store owner doesn’t want you to,” he said during his daily briefing, this time in Brooklyn.

The governor said keeping one’s face covered, practicing social distancing and washing hands often help keep the spread of the deadly virus down.
