Governor says now is the time to upgrade aging infrastructure

NEW YORK – As the state is moving toward phase one re-opening of the economy, Governor Andrew Cuomo, Monday, said now is the time to look toward upgrading the state’s outdated infrastructure. He pointed to the Great Depression and public works projects that build new projects that the Hoover Dam while putting people back to work.

“The time is now,” he said, noting that with travel way down because of the COVID-19 New York Pause initiative, it would be the right time to improve infrastructure.

The governor said he will be meeting with President Trump in Washington tomorrow to discuss funding for New York projects.

The Hudson Valley entered phase one of economic re-opening today (Tuesday) and Long Island will re-open tomorrow (Wednesday), leaving only the City of New York closed. That has been the epicenter of COVID-19 in the state.
