Off-duty New York City cop arrested for shoplifting in Orange County

NEWBURGH – An off-duty New York City police officer has been arrested and charged with shoplifting at the Town of Newburgh Walmart store on Route 300.

Newburgh Town Police charged Johana Rios, 43, of Montgomery on Friday evening, May 22 after the store wanted to press charges.

Town Police said she allegedly stole a number of small items from the store.

Rios was issued an appearance ticket returnable to town court.
