GOSHEN – It has become a ritual every Memorial Day and Christmas season. Organizations from High School Junior ROTC to Nam Knights place American Flags at every grave at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.

This year, the Memorial Day weekend is different from all others before. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are no large parades with veterans groups, marching bands, police and fire departments, all to pay homage to the thousands of American servicemen and women who gave their lives in defense of our country.

Instead, there will be drive-by “parades,” small ceremonies of no more than 10 people, and the cemetery tributes.
