NEWBURGH – Rodney Asse, who began on the job as assistant superintendent for finance of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District on October 1, 2019, has submitted his resignation.

He will have worked in Newburgh for just 11 months when he steps down on August 29.

School officials said he submitted his resignation on May 18 and the board of education will vote to approve it at the next session.

Asse was finance director of the Rochester Central School District before coming to Newburgh. When he left that district, it was found to be in financial disarray, although no one pointed fingers at any one individual for the cause.

Asse’s future career plans, once he leaves Newburgh, were not immediately known.
