Buchanan woman jumps to her death from Bear Mountain Bridge

BEAR MOUNTAIN – A Buchanan woman committed suicide by jumping off the Bear Mountain Bridge Monday evening, State Police said.

The woman, identified as Kathleen Kirkpatrick, 57, was alive when rescued from the Hudson River after 7 p.m. by the Verplank Marine Unit. She was transported to a local hospital by Peekskill Paramedics when she was pronounced dead, police said.

Her car was located on Route 9D.
