ELLENVILLE – An Ulster County Sheriff’s deputy is credited with finding the gun believed used in a May 10th armed robbery of a gas station in Ellenville on the bottom of Kushner Pond off David Street in the village.

Ellenville Police and Ulster deputies conducted a search of the lake on Sunday and after three hours of under-water searching by a dive team, the gun was located by Deputy Shaller 36 feet from shore submerged in six feet of water.

Ellenville Police Chief Phillip Mattracion praised the dive team effort as the search was conducted by hand given the murkiness of the water. “This was no easy task and it is certainly a credit to their command and training.”

Last week police arrested Aaron Younger, 41, of Ellenville, for allegedly holding up the Valero gas station on Route 209 while armed with a gun.
