ALBANY – The barber in Kingston who was caught cutting hair at a Broadway shop in violation of the state’s Pause order infected several people, Governor Cuomo revealed during his Friday briefing.

The barber tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Ulster County Health Department.

The governor said cutting hair commercially is a no-no given the contagious nature of the virus.

“A barber in Kingston was operating in defiance of the close order, infected, I think, over a dozen people. That is an occupation of close proximity. You can’t really socially distance and do a haircut,” he said.

Hair styling is in phase-two of a reopening plan. The Hudson Valley has yet to meet all of the metrics for phase-one.
