POUGHKEEPSIE – Hudson River Housing has been awarded a $25,000 grant through the US EPA’s Local Foods, Local Places, Smart Growth program, according to EPA Regional Director Pete Lopez.

Hudson River Housing aims to support downtown food entrepreneurs at a former Mill Street factory by adding food production and processing capacity to already existing affordable housing and commercial kitchens.

“Here as part of the support EPA will work with the community to conduct a workshop, identify local assets that can be used to support the local food economy and in the same breath contribute to downtown and neighborhood revitalization,” said Lopez.

The $25,000 grant is one of 16 awarded statewide.
