Badly neglected donkey seized from Campbell Hall pasture

CAMPBELL HALL – Authorities have seized a female donkey that had been living in a filthy pasture in Campbell Hall without food or water, in violation of state agriculture and markets law.

The lengthy investigation was conducted by the Hudson Valley SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Division in cooperation with the State Police.

Armed with a seizure warrant, authorities went to 281 Sarah Wells Trail in Campbell Hall and rescued the animal from a filthy pasture.

Among the animal’s health problems was severely overgrown hooves making it hard for her to walk.

Agents from Pets Alive assisted in removing the donkey to their farm where she will receive emergency veterinary care as needed.

The Hudson Valley SPCA credited concerns Orange County residents with contacting the agency regarding animal abuse and neglect.
