HUDSON VALLEY – Top officials of the seven counties in the newly created Hudson Valley Reopening Workgroup put their heads together remotely on Friday to begin discussions about reopening the economy when the time is deemed appropriate.

In a joint statement the officials said, “Throughout the pandemic we have taken a collaborative approach to protect the health and safety of our region.”

The group meeting virtually for the first time included Matt Morrell, Stockport town supervisor, representing Columbia County; Marcus Molinaro, Dutchess County executive; Patrick Linger, Greene County Legislature chairman; Steven Neuhaus, Orange County Executive; MaryEllen Odell, Putnam County executive; Joshua Potosek, Sullivan County manager; and Patrick Ryan, Ulster County executive.

The officials said they shared ideas, data, concerns, and best practices that have been in their own communities.

They said they look forward to continuing to ensure the counties come out of COVID-19 “stronger and more united.”

The county leaders said they will work together “to produce a set of regional recommendations to responsibly open, which we will share with New York State for consideration.”
