CORNWALL – A City of Hudson man, who was a passenger in a car that was stopped on the Thruway in the Town of Cornwall for several vehicle and traffic violations, has been charged with drug possession.

State Police stopped the vehicle around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 and found 54 grams of heroin in the possession of the passenger, Zachary Lewis, 28, of Hudson.

He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by the trooper and taken into custody.

He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, one of which was for intent to sell. Both are felonies. Police also charged Lewis with misdemeanors of resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

Lewis was released on appearance tickets returnable to Cornwall Town Court in June.
