LAGRANGEVILLE – Superintendent Dr. Brendan Lyons is leaving the Arlington Central School District in the Town of Poughkeepsie for the top job in the Lakeland School District in Yorktown.

Lyons, who spent 25 years in the Arlington district, will assume his new job on July 1.

He called his decision to move on “extremely difficult,” especially given that it is “at a time that is already fraught with stress and uncertainty. It is certainly not my intent to add to these feelings.”

Lyons said he will give his full attention to matters in Arlington until the day he leaves.

“Please know that Arlington will always have a place in my heart and that I will always be rooting for our kids and community,” he wrote in a letter to Arlington residents.
