NEW CITY – Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato has died. He was 61.
The announcement came Wednesday morning from County Executive Ed Day and State Senator David Carlucci.
Day said Piperato’s death shows the truth in the expression, “only the good die young.”
Day called him a “dedicated public servant,” who he got to know while serving on the ARC Rockland Foundation Board.
You could not find a more genuine or caring individual than Paul,” said the county executive.
Day reflected on the Piperato’s “joy at witnesses and taking part in new citizens joining our ranks” during naturalization ceremonies.
Carlucci reflected on how Piperato and he attended a People to People event last week at which they unloaded crates of food for the needy. “That’s the kind of man Paul was, always giving back.”
Carlucci, who said the clerk sworn him into office last year, said he was “in complete shock” over Piperato’s death.
State Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski said Piperpato “was well known to be the nicest guy in politics. He was everyone’s best friend; kind and funny and always there for support.”
