Hudson Valley COVID-19 death toll exceeds 1,700

HUDSON VALLEY – The death toll in the Hudson Valley from COVID-19 continues to climb with 1,729 people reported to have passed away, according to the latest statistics from the State Health Department released on Saturday.

Westchester continues as the county with the highest number of virus-related deaths, at 920.

Rockland County reported 369 deaths while Orange County reported 280 people succumbing to COVID-19.

As of Saturday, Dutchess County reported 62 deaths; Putnam County, 42; Ulster County, 23; Sullivan County, 17; Columbia County, 14; and Greene County, two.

While state officials believe the virus in New York has reached its peak and is on a downward slope, the numbers of positive cases and deaths continue

People are reminded to maintain social distancing, wear facial coverings when going outside, washing your hands with soap and water often and use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
