Skoufis tests positive for COVID-19

NEWBURGH – State Senator James Skoufis (D, Woodbury) has tested positive for COVID-19, his director of communications, Jessica Gulotta announced on Friday.

“He is increasingly symptomatic but is currently recovering at home,” she said. “After beginning to feel symptoms on Tuesday, April 21, Senator Skoufis isolated himself at home.”

She said the senator and his wife, Hillary, urge constituents “to continue treating the public health emergency with seriousness and precaution.”

Gulotta said the rest of his staff “is healthy and safe and continues to work around the clock assisting constituents through the crisis.” She said residents should not hesitate to call Skoufis’ office for resources or help.”

“I have been informed by Senator James Skoufis that today he tested positive for COVID-19. Senator Skoufis always brings great energy to our conference, and we are all praying for him and his wife Hillary, while he uses that energy to recover,” said State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousin (D, Yonkers).
