Saugerties men arrested for stealing bluestone in Kingston

KINGSTON – City Police in Kingston arrested two Saugerties men on charges that they were stealing slabs of bluestone.

Arrested were 60-year-old Wayne Carney of Ulster Avenue in Saugerties and 53-year-old Christopher Santos of Partition Street in Saugerties.

On April 18 at about 4 p.m. police responded to the area of 45 Pine Grove Avenue for the report of a larceny of bluestone and began an investigation.

A description of the suspects and a detailed description of the vehicle used was obtained by officers at the scene. Patrols began searching the area and a short time later an officer located the vehicle matching the description on East Chester Street. The vehicle had slabs of bluestone in the bed of the truck. The vehicle was stopped and the subjects in the vehicle, Carney and Santos, were taken into custody.

Both were charged with felony grand larceny and released on appearance tickets returnable to city court.
