Motorcyclist injured when he careens down embankment

MILAN – A 60-year-old Connecticut man sustained chest and arm injuries when he was ejected from his motorcycle while riding on Route 199 just east of Wilbur Flats Road in the Town of Milan on Sunday afternoon.

The man traveled 20 feet down an embankment off the north shoulder of the highway. Authorities said he was conscious and treated for his injuries by the Milan Rescue Squad and Northern Dutchess Paramedics, then transported to Milan Town Hall where he was airlifted to Albany Medical Center by LifeNet helicopter from Westchester Medical Center.

The accident is under investigation by the State Police.

The Milan Fire Department was assisted at the landing zone by Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
