Mount Vernon man charged with setting Easter Sunday house fire

MOUNT VERNON – A local man has been charged with arson for setting a fire that destroyed a house on South Tenth Avenue in Mount Vernon.

LaMont Riddenhour, 44, allegedly set the fire around 9 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. There were no injuries.

Riddenhour was arraigned on Friday before Westchester County Court Judge Thomas Quinones. Bail was set at $100,000 cash over $300,000 bond and $500,000 partially secured surety bond at 10 percent.

Deputy DA Timothy Ward of the Superior Court Trial Division is prosecuting the case.
