MONTGOMERY – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues with negative impacts on the economy, the Town of Montgomery Industrial Development Agency has committed $215,000 to aid town businesses.
The funds will go to the #TOMSTRONG Community Response Team’s newly established Business Relief Program.
The community response team was created “to assist our community in response to COVID-19,” said Town Supervisor Brian Maher.
“The town IDA’s support of our newly established Business Relief Program will go a long way to assist our local businesses during this difficult time. It is our goal for these funds to be used in the form of both grants and zero-interest loans to assist businesses who need it most.”
The #TOMSTRONG Community Team is a charitable fund of the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan.
“Helping to create a bridge between the Town of Montgomery IDA and local businesses who are in desperate need of immediate financial assistance is something we are proud to be part of,” said Elizabeth Rowley, executive director of the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan.
“The creative action and leadership Montgomery is showing right now is a shining example of our local leaders working at their best to combat this crisis,” said Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus.
