HUDSON VALLEY – Mid Hudson News has launched a new “Student Journalist” program for elementary, middle, and high-school students as a way for them to express their thoughts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Young writers are being given the opportunity to submit brief essays that will be published along with their photos on the website, provided we receive permission from the parents or guardians.
The initial assignment requires that the child write a paragraph-long bio that includes their name, age, school, and include any hobbies or activities they enjoy. The bio is to be followed up by a 3-4 paragraph essay describing how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected them personally.
The parents or guardians will also have to submit an email that consists of their contact information as well as authorization for Mid Hudson News to accept, edit, and publish the essays and accompanying photos.
