MID-HUDSON – Monday’s severe thunderstorms with strong winds and heavy rains uprooted trees and brought down power lines across the Hudson Valley. While some areas sustained heavy damage with tens of thousands of people losing power, other areas appeared to have little damage.

Central Hudson, Orange and Rockland, and NYSEG expected to have most of their customers restored by this morning as contractors and company employees removed downed trees. Broken utility poles will also have to be replaced.

High winds caused a tree to fall on this truck on Delafield Street.

Fire departments were called out all day as electric lines snapped and some caught fire.

Pockets of damage across the region were contrasted by other areas where there was rain and winds, but little to no damage.
