ALBANY – Following President Trump’s statement’s Monday that he has total control as to when to reopen the economy, New York Governor Cuomo said that “not totally accurate.”

Cuomo said the president “is clearly spoiling for a fight on this. The president will see no fight with me.”

With thousands of people dying across the country, the governor said this is not the time for politics. “If he wants a fight, he is not going to get it from me,” Cuomo said on Tuesday.

The governor said the president is “factually wrong” when it comes to total authority. “We don’t have a king in this country,” Cuomo said.

A total of 778 people died from COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total to die from the virus to 10,834. Despite the high numbers of victims, the state may be at the apex, Cuomo said. ICU admissions are declining along with intubations, but he noted still there were 1,600 new cases of coming into hospitals yesterday.

Now is not the time for bickering; we are in a “no-politics zone,” Cuomo said.
