COVID-19 nursing home, adult care home deaths run high

HUDSON VALLEY – Over 25 percent of deaths from COVID-19 in the Hudson Valley involved residents of nursing homes or adult care facilities, according to State Health Department statistics. As of Monday, 1,004 people have died from the virus in the region.

In Westchester County, 172 people lived in nursing homes and 30 others lives in adult care facilities.

In Orange County, 40 people lived in nursing homes and eight lived in adult care facilities.

Eighteen people who died in Rockland County lived in nursing homes and 16 lived in adult care facilities.

Nine people who died in Putnam County lived in nursing homes while eight people in Dutchess County lived in nursing facilities.

In Columbia County, six people who died lived in nursing homes and one resident in each,  Sullivan and Ulster County, died of COVID-19.
