Poughquag man charged with store theft, drug possession

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughquag man, who was initially charged with stealing a vacuum from the Target store at the Poughkeepsie Galleria, was later charged with drug possession.

On March 26, Target loss prevention reported a man stole a vacuum and fled in a car. Shortly after the initial call, the vehicle was located on Hooker Avenue and stopped by Poughkeepsie Town Police.

Jeffrey Wilcox, 25, was found in the car along with the stolen vacuum as well as ecstasy, cocaine and fentanyl.

He was charged with three counts of drug possession, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and petit larceny.

Wilcox was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail pending a future court appearance.

Poughkeepsie Town Police were assisted by Poughkeepsie City Police and the Dutchess County Drug Task Force.
