GOSHEN – Another 14 people have died in the last 24 hours in Orange County from the deadly coronavirus, County Executive Steven Neuhaus said Wednesday. That brings to 107, the number of people in the county to have died from the virus.

The number of people infected by the virus has risen to 4,075, up by 246 from Tuesday. A total of 293 people with the virus are in the hospital.

Twenty-five percent of the intensive care beds in local hospitals are available.

More people are losing their jobs as businesses that were deemed essential have decided to close down, Neuhaus said.

“That means optometrists, dentists, podiatrists, all those types of non-essential doctors, unless it’s an emergency, those offices are starting to close and we are seeing furloughs come from businesses in those fields,” he said.

Restaurants have been allowed to stay open and serve takeout food only. Pizzerias and Chinese restaurants that tried to stick it out, have decided to lay off their employees and shutter their businesses for now.
