KINGSTON – The housing market in the City of Kingston has, for the longest time, made it difficult for persons with low incomes to find a residence. The effects of COVID-19 have made it worse.
That has prompted Mayor Steven Noble to secure approval from the common council to create the position of Director of Housing Initiatives.
“I think it is really important that in these dire times when we are facing these crises we have to be able to go ahead and still focus on what matters and for me, that is housing,” he said.
There will be no additional expense to the city since the funding for the new post is in the city budget, the mayor said.
