Mexican citizen sentenced for illegal re-entry

ALBANY – A Mexican citizen who lives in Elmsford was sentenced in US District Court in Albany on Wednesday to the 41 days of time served in jail for illegal re-entry into the United States.

As part of his guilty plea, Pedro Vilchis-Rosas, 46, admitted that he was removed from the US to Mexico on May 6, 2011.

He admitted that he returned to the United States following removal without the necessary government permission.

On February 28 ICE Officers arrested Vilchis-Rosas in Albany.

He was remanded to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security, for removal proceedings.

This case was investigated by ICE-ERO and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Grogan.
