GOSHEN – On the heels of 24 deaths from the coronavirus this last weekend, another 17 people died on Monday, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus said.

That brings the total number of people who have succumbed to the illness in Orange County to 93. There are 3,819 confirmed positive cases of the virus.

Neuhaus said COVID-19 is causing problems with cases of the virus in nursing homes including the county-owned Valley View facility.

He said he will keep county parks open, even though other counties are closing theirs. The parks provide people the opportunity to get out in the fresh air and exercise, but he cautioned them to practice social distancing.

Some have also questioned how to report instances where people ae congregating in large groups in violation of the policy. Neuhaus said if someone sees instances like that, call their local police department to report it.
