POUGHKEEPSIE – The Hudson Valley Credit Union (HVCU) has temporarily closed two of its branches due to employees at each branch testing positive for COVID-19.

The Carmel branch on Terrace Drive closed on March 31 after receiving notification that an employee had tested positive for the Coronavirus.  According to a statement issued by the credit union, “On March 25, 2020, an employee at our Carmel branch experienced symptoms related to the COVID-19 coronavirus and was subsequently quarantined.  We were notified on March 30, 2020, that this individual tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. This employee is receiving medical attention and will continue to be quarantined.”

The Pleasant Valley branch, located on North Avenue, experienced a similar situation just a day later.  The statement from HVCU regarding the Pleasant Valley branch said, “On March 26, 2020, an employee at our Pleasant Valley Branch was placed on a precautionary quarantine.  We were notified on April 4, 2020, that this individual tested positive for the COVID-19 Coronavirus. This employee is now receiving medical attention and will continue to be quarantined.”

HVCU indicated the closings will afford credit union staff an opportunity to self-quarantine and ensure that the branches are deep cleaned using the New York Department of Health approved disinfecting agents. The credit union said they are reaching out to members who conducted any transaction at the Carmel branch on or after March 11, 2020, to notify them of the possible contamination and encourage them to seek medical guidance.  Additionally, members that conducted business at the Pleasant Valley branch from March 21 through April 4 have been notified of the situation and they are being encouraged to seek medical guidance.

The remaining 18 HVCU branches will be closing at noon on Friday, April 10 in honor of the Good Friday religious holiday.  The branches will reopen on Saturday, April 11.
