Gunman opens fire on Port Jervis man

PORT JERVIS – No one was injured late Saturday night when a man fired several rounds from a handgun at a Port Jervis man standing outside his home on Ball Street, Police Chief William Wonder said.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. when the suspect emerged from an adjacent yard and opened fire. The victim, who was uninjured, sought cover inside his residence and the suspect fled on foot.

Port Jervis Police searched the area with assistance from the State Police and a K-9 unit from the Greenville barracks. No suspect was found.

City detectives interviewed witnesses and processed the scene overnight and the investigation is continuing.
