ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON – In response to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 crisis, Bard College has established new options for local college-bound students planning for the coming year.

“In recent weeks we’ve received queries from students and families throughout the Hudson Valley who are reevaluating their college plans in favor of options closer to home,” said Taun Toay, Bard’s senior vice president who oversees enrollment. “This is an unprecedented and unpredictable time, and we want to provide our neighbors with more options as they look at their college plans for the coming year.”

For applicants from the surrounding Hudson Valley counties of Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Sullivan, and Ulster, Bard is reopening its application window from April 1 through May 1, 2020. These applicants will receive decisions by mid-May.

A special scholarship will be available to eligible Hudson Valley-based students, called the Hudson Valley Scholarship. This scholarship will make the cost of attendance at Bard the equivalent to the cost of a local state institution, currently at $24,726. Bard always assesses need first, so certain applicants may see scholarships in excess of this amount based on their financial situation.

For students who have already applied to colleges via the Common Application, simply add Bard College to your school list and answer our supplemental questions. If you have not used the Common Application to apply to a college or university during this admission cycle, please visit the Common Application website at  https://www.commonapp.org/ to start your application to Bard.

For financial aid consideration, Bard requires both the FAFSA and CSS Profile. If you have already filled these out for other schools, you simply need to add Bard to the list of institutions you wish to share your documents with. If you have not completed these forms, please do so by May 1st.

Admitted students who choose to enroll at Bard must make their deposit by June 1st. For questions and more information please contact us at admission@bard.edu.
