ALBANY – The latest unemployment figures for the Hudson Valley/Catskills show stability when comparing the 12-month period ending in February.  That will not be the case going forward, at least for the foreseeable future as thousands of people are being laid off because of COVID-19.

State officials said the office to call to sign up for unemployment benefits received 1.2 million calls on Monday alone. Last week, it received 7 million calls.

The website to register for benefits has received so much traffic that it continues to crash, Governor Cuomo said. IT people are working on resolving that issue.
