Middletown couple, owners of Planet Wings, matches food donations to local businesses

MIDDLETOWN – Middletown-based Fidanza Family Properties, a property, food and beverage service management group in the Hudson Valley, Tuesday, announced a food donation match program for local businesses to help with relief efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

The program is available to all businesses that donate to essential workers at essential businesses in the region.

Those interested in making a food donation can do so by ordering food from Pizza E Birra and Planet Wings at the locations. All food donations will be matched – up to $1,500 – with additional food on behalf of Fidanza Family Properties.

“We are a family-run business and want to support the community we live in, especially the heroes on the front lines of essential businesses,” said Franco Fidanza, company principal and owner of Planet Wings and Pizza E Birra. “It’s a simple gesture of goodwill given the extraordinary circumstance taking place and our ability to help.”

To date, two local companies contributed towards the food donation match program the company has implemented; Johnstons Toyota and Johnstons Subaru.

Both are located in New Hampton, and each pledged a $500 food contribution for a donation to Orange Regional Medical Center. Fidanza Family Properties matched the $500 contribution, bringing it to a total of $1,000 towards each total food order.

“COVID-19 has made it tough for local businesses and their employees,” said Steve Jardine, owner, and general manager of the two auto dealerships. “We want to share our support during these difficult times by donating to essential workers. They are the same people who have supported our business through the years.”

Both businesses saw the initiative as a way to help the community and wanted to provide as much support as they can at this time.

“We are grateful for the support of Johnstons Toyota and Johnstons Subaru, and for their generous offer to kick start this donation program,” said Fidanza. “We are hopeful that other local businesses will do the same. It’s the least we can do.”
