WASHINGTON – Hours after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo asked the federal government to approve four emergency hospitals with a total of 1,000 beds to be located in the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, President Donald Trump announced the approval of the facilities at no cost to the state. That operation will be constructed by FEMA.

The US Army Corps of Engineers also approved the development of four other hospital facilities – at the Westchester Convention Center in White Plains, a fifth one at the Javits Center and two on Long Island.

Trump also said the authorized the National Guard to go to work with the states and he would waive the 25 percent state share of the cost. The Guard will remain under the direction of the governor.
