POUGHKEEPSIE – A Dutchess County company has joined the effort to make much-needed masks for medical personnel.

Sew & Vac on Route 9 in the Town of Poughkeepsie started manufacturing them on Saturday, said owner Kevin Friscenza.

“My neighbor, who works at a hospital, contacted me Friday morning about some other people in the south who started making masks for the hospital because they were worried about running out, so we figured out how to make them and now I have some people here helping me make them,” he said.

Friscenza said their sewing machine assembly line has manufactured 100 masks for local hospitals in the first 24 hours and they plan on making more.
