Bronx man indicted in Kingston murder

KINGSTON – An Ulster County grand jury has indicted Corey Smith, 35, of the Bronx in connection with the shooting death of Ashley Dixon in Kingston on February 11.

Smith is charged with murder for the multiple shooting of Dixon outside 34-48 Sheehan Court in the City of Kingston at about 7:29 .m.

The Kingston Police Department is the lead agency in the investigation and is being assisted by the State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Ulster Police, District Attorney, the FBI and New York City Police.

Smith was taken into federal custody in the Bronx on February 12.

He was produced before Ulster County Court Judge Anthony McGinty. Smith was produced from the Rensselaer County Jail where he is being held on a federal parole hold. He was already in custody when the Ulster County grand jury acted on March 6.
