Trump dispatching hospital ship to New York to treat COVID-19 patients

ALBANY – With an anticipated surge in coronavirus cases in the days and weeks ahead, there is a concern among state officials that there will not be enough hospital beds to accommodate the more seriously ill residents who require hospitalization.

Governor Cuomo has already said he wants an inventory of available red in former hospitals, nursing homes, and dormitories.

How, Cuomo has talked to President Trump, who is dispatching the USNS Comfort to New York Harbor. The ship is a hospital vessel that can handle 1,000 patients and includes operating facilities.

In a daily briefing, Cuomo said Pennsylvania is joining the coalition with New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to implement the same measures to have a uniform response to COVID-19.

Earlier this week, the governor asked that businesses voluntarily have 50 percent of their workforce from how. Now, he is mandating that in an effort to keep the virus from spreading.
