CORNWALL – A Cornwall Central School District employee at the high school has tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent of Schools Neal Miller said Tuesday.

He was notified by the Orange County Health Department.

“Based on information provided, we believe that March 11 was the only date this individual was present at the high school and, to our knowledge, this employee had very limited contact with staff and no contact with students,” said Miller.

The employee will not be permitted to come back to work until cleared by the department of health.

Miller said the health department advises that “people who are symptomatic need to pay special attention to their symptoms and contact their healthcare provider if they are experiencing symptoms.”

The best way to prevent, or minimum, the virus is to engage in social distancing and be aware of anyone who appears sick, health department officials said.
