THOMPSON – Owners of Resorts World Catskills are shutting down the facility effective today (Monday) for an initial period of two weeks because of the coronavirus.

A spokesman for the company, which is also shuttering its Resorts World Casino New York City, said they are beginning “the process of reducing property staffing levels to essential personnel.” Full-time employees will be paid during the closure.

“We will continue to closely monitor developments regarding COVID-19 and follow additional guidance from New York State,” the official said.

Governor Cuomo announced that all casinos in the state will be closing down by 8 p.m. Monday.

The temporary closure of the casinos comes says after the Kartrite Indoor Waterpark closed down because of the virus. That facility is not anticipating reopening until April 2.
