GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, Sunday, said county government staffing reductions may be implemented as the COVID-19 situation gets worse.

Other area counties are allowing government employees to work from home with limited access to county buildings by the public.

Neuhaus said the response to the situation is growing and modifying on a constant basis.

  • “The governor (Sunday) asked for a voluntary closure of businesses in New York State. So, that’s voluntary. You will see restaurants starting to close and other businesses and that could be a precursor to have an executive order from either the governor or myself sometime later this week,” Neuhaus said.

People who suspect they are coming down with the virus are urged to self-quarantine for 14 days to determine if they do, in fact, have COVID-19.

Neuhaus has now extended the state of emergency to 30 days from March 15.
