POUGHKEEPSIE – The Bardavon and the HVP String Competition Committee regret to announce that the 48th annual competition scheduled for this coming Saturday and Sunday, March 14-15 at Skinner Hall, Vassar College has been canceled.

Due to the nature of the event, with 22 competitors traveling to Poughkeepsie from all across the globe; the logistics of travel coupled with concerns about the COVID-19 virus has led the Bardavon and the HVP String Committee to cancel the competition this year.

The Bardavon, UPAC, and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic are closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19/Coronavirus situation. The safety and security of our theatergoers, employees, volunteers, and artists are our highest priorities. We are following the lead of our county, state, and federally elected officials and are prepared to implement strategies recommended by public health authorities. At this time there are no changes in our schedule or programming at Bardavon or UPAC. We remain vigilant and prepared to make decisions based on current needs, as well as in response to changing conditions.
