MIDDLETOWN – Effective Tuesday, March 10, the City of Middletown Senior Center will be closed for all programming. The bus service will continue to operate on its regular schedule.

“At this point we are hopeful that regular programming will resume approximately at the end of March. We will advise in advance of re-opening date,” Mayor Joseph DeStefano said.

During this period, the building will be scrubbed and sanitized.

“Seniors are at higher risk for adverse health complications if they contact this virus it is recommended that they stay away from public places and gatherings to protect their health,” DeStefano said.

He noted that “some seniors rely on the center for food, warmth and socialization. Closing the doors will have a severe impact on vulnerable individuals.”

Staff at the center will be available by phone to assist any Middletown seniors with any special needs and bus transportation. The phone number is 845-346-4073.
