MIDDLETOWN – Temple Sinai in Middletown will mark Yom Hashoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day on April 20, 2020, at the temple at 75 Highland Avenue.

According to the staff at Temple Sinai, the date marks the uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto, which started on April 19, 1943, and lasted almost one month.

To honor the six million Jews that were killed as a result of the Holocaust, the service at Temple Sinai will begin at 7:00 PM and include prayer, songs, and a presentation from Dr. Ronald Israelski.

The ceremonial candle-lighting will be held in the lobby where Holocaust Survivors and second-generation survivors will light six candles representing the six million Jews that died.  Non-Jewish deaths will be honored with the lighting of a single candle.
