MOUNT VERNON – Republican former Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino is eying a run for the State Senate in the 40th District, multiple sources said.
Astorino, who was also an advisor to President Trump during his run for the White House, is expected to announce he will challenge Democrat incumbent Peter Harckham, a former Westchester County legislator.
Astorino did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday evening.
His formal announcement that he will seek the Republican and Conservative endorsements for the post is expected in the days ahead.
Harckham also had the endorsement of the Working Families Party when he ran two years ago.
The district includes portions of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties.
