The City of Poughkeepsie Republican Committee is calling on Common Council Chairperson Sarah Salem to resign from the post. Councilmember Salem is supposed to be the head of the law-making body of the City of Poughkeepsie and the blatant disregard for laws regarding drinking and driving disqualifies Sarah from being qualified for such a position. It has now come to light that this was not a one time mistake, as some have suggested, but a pattern of disregard for the law and safety of all others on the roadway. When contacted by the press for remarks, Councilmember Salem referred to it as an accident where no one was hurt, instead of offering any form of apology or contrition. Sarah hopes that silence and time will allow multiple drinking and driving infractions to be forgotten. When given the opportunity at the March 2nd council meeting to address the public and apologize, Sarah did no such thing. Such dangerous activity will not be forgotten and should not be excused.

City of Poughkeepsie Republican Committee
