SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man was charged on March 1 with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and harassment following an incident in a parking lot in the Village of Saugerties at 12:48 a.m.

Police were called to a report of a man harassing a woman in the municipal parking lot behind Mirabella’s Bar and Restaurant.

The investigation found that the victim was inside the bar when she was shoved by 29-year-old Brian Ciarlante, who then threw a shot glass with alcohol at the woman, striking her.

He then followed the woman into the parking lot when she attempted to leave the bar.

When responding officers tried to interview Ciarlante, he attempted to elude them, refused to comply with their verbal commands and tried to flee.

He resisted when an officer tried to arrest him and was eventually taken into custody with the assistance of a second officer.

He was charged and released on an appearance ticket pending a future court appearance.
